This is my mind on deadline:

It's actually kind of gone over from being horrifying to just hilarious.

  1. Hi Julie,
I love your writing and would love to be in touch about a book I'm editing, Learning to Eat, about how our families shape our food habits. Could you be in touch? I'm at cmgrant [at] speakeasy [dot] org
    thanks!

  2. Ah yes, embrace the chaos! What else is there to do when you don't have time to do all the house maintenance crap. Which is what I am FINALLY doing today. Good luck with the deadline! Cute cats! ;)

  5. Julie,

I would love to write you a long email about how you are changing my life, but like you wrote in your book many times, that might be a bit creepy.

I just want to say that your book has helped me become more than just a dead-end administrative assistant, more than just a fashion merchandising graduate from UNT, more than just a person who is married at 25, living in Seattle, over a thousand miles away from her family in Texas (there are many more parallels between the two of us, but I'll stop here).

Basically, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  6. yeah, that's the last three weeks of every semester at our house. As long as you keep remembering to eat - and feed the cats, it's all good.

  7. I'm reading your book (sorry it took me so long to get my hands on a copy) and I just love it. I really can't think of anything insightful enough to say to express what a joy and comfort it is to me right now. Plus, it's reignited my love for cooking.

  8. I love that your cats are all sitting on the counter. My quasi mother-in-law freaked out when she visited and saw that I keep the cat dish on the kitchen table.

  9. If the kitchen picture here is the place you recreated Julia's dishes, just let me say that you misrepresented how horrible your LIC loft was/is.
Nice cabinets! Counter space! Not at all what I had pictured while I devoured your book. I was thinking more along the lines of two (three, tops!) white metal cabinets, super ugly, peeling countertops, ugly fluourescent lighting ... overall, an uber-gross space where maggots lived.
BTW: Finished reading the Julia/Julia book at 5:36 p.m. CST.
    You are a marvel!!!!!!!
