BREAKING: Grievously Lame Blogger Wins Bloggish Award

So how many hours late am I with this exactly? It's utterly pathetic. But, yes, it turns out I won the first-ever Blooker Prize, which is a prize for books based on blogs. It's super amazing, and I'm a little sheepish about it, because of course I'm a wretched blogger. But oh well, that $2,000 is another month I can stay in my ridiculously expensive apartment....

...WHICH, by the way, you may be able to see this evening on BBC World News. They're coming here in, let's see, just over an hour. If you tune in, you'll get to see my fantastic new digs, and maybe my dog!

Julie, the news about your award is all over the world. I read about it today in Bangalore, India, and was thrilled for you. I came across your Julie/Julia Project blog through your book, Julie/Julia. I bought the book twice (in Hong Kong) because I left it behind in a taxi the first time, and just had to finish the story. I then read every post and comment on the JJP blog. You are blessed not only with a refreshing and highly original writing style but with witty commenters. Although I'm missing some of them on 'What Could Happen'. It has been wonderful to witness your success story. More power to you. Your book is not yet available in India. As soon as it is, I will buy many copies as gifts. I know lots of people who will love it as much as I did.

Congratulations Julie, I heard on the World News here in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. How's it feel to be at the cutting edge of new media?

By the way, loved your book, the cooking was interesting as I don't know much about it; I did enjoye going along for the ride. And I love your politics!!

I will never forget your line about evil and republicans. It equally applies to Liberal and National Party members here in Australia.
Well done. Any thoughts of coming down under?

You deserve it! I started a food blog after reading about you in the New York Times and felt not a little annoyed that you had thought of the Project before I did, but after reading your blog (well, I'm up to January) I have to say your writing is compelling. Kudos!

Julie, I want to congratulate you heartily on winning the Blog Award. I learnt about it only today from the newspaper (Times of India) which has featured your interview. I have just started blogging so you can imagine how thrilled I am at this wonderful news. Keep it up and all the best for the future. Now I am looking forward to reading your posts :)

hi julie, i felt compelled to say thanks for writing your book and giving me some inspiration - funnily (or not so funnily as it were) in two days i'll be 30 and have just found out i likely have PCOS, i'm less than thrilled with my job where my bosses are less than respectful, and until yesterday was living in a crazy house above a crazy landlady with four crazy and feral dogs on a crazy corner in a bad brooklyn neighborhood. so things have been slightly less than perfect. my boyfriend just gave me your book as a gift; he normally forgets the majority of things i "drop" hints about wanting but for some reason this time it stuck. when i opened it and read the first couple of pages i nearly put it down b/c i didn't want to read about someone who sounded as whiny as myself (with similar content to the gripes no less) but i'm so glad i pushed through. so thanks so much for the laughs and the inspiration to take some risks to do what you love, love what you do, and to keep on writing.

I heard the news about your award on the radio the other day but wasn't paying 100% attention until I heard your name. By then it it was too late. So it's true-

My book club and I are discussing your book tomorrow night as our April selection. Everyone thinks it was hysterical.

P.S. This is the first blog I've ever read!
