My new beauty regimen.

Wow. The whole world-traveller vibe sure works wonder on your old sex appeal. I mean, paired with the red lipstick and short skirt and high heels and loss of six pounds, I mean. Gosh.

I could get used to this shit, I'm telling you.

I'm just hoping that faint hissing sound I'm hearing is not New York slowly sucking away every breath of self-confidence and jaunty sexiness this trip filled me up with.

New York can do that, Julie. We are faced with so many billboards, skinny manniquins in the windows of Bergdoff's, and dominant paradigms of high fashion that the "real" women of New York end up focusing outward to these and not inward.

When you come home, remember that billboards are flat, manniquins are plastic, and most fashion trends are completely impractical.

Besides, no matter what city you live in, being a world traveler is sexy. :)

Dear Julie,
I just finished your book. Thank you so much for sharing your Project, your life and your profanity with us. I used to be a chef and your book really resonated with me. The first time I did anything "real" was with a recipe from Julia Child.
I am now a bookseller at the Tattered Cover in Denver, Co. I plan on telling anyone who will listen that your book is amazing. I was inspired, my whole family is getting it as a gift and I hope you will continue to write. I will read it!
Best regards and Bon Aaa.....

Hey, Jules!

Is it true that you'll be spending some time with us Upstate? I'll be at Fleisher's-West for a couple of days near the Christmas holiday. Hope we can catch up.

Aaron

P.S. My mustache placed second at Nationals in Chicago.

Julie,
sorry to use this comment space but I didn't know how else to get in touch with you. I'm pretty sure Martha Stewart just dissed you on her show!! She said "I know people have written books claiming they have made every recipe in Julia Child's book, but I (meaning her) actually have. I have your book. I don't understand why she would say such a thing...
that's all.

I hope you'll be writing more books in the future!

Julie-
I enjoyed the J&J project and your blog...but I've thought, "Is she a one-hit wonder?" Your Argentine experience and the recent Ukraine tour have reassured me that you are a talent we'll be reading for years. Thanks for everything!

WOW I am actually leaving a comment for the famous Julie! I POURED over your book this summer and have missed it all these past few months so finally reconnected with this blog. Didn't even care about blogs when you were writing your year long experiment, but devoured your book. Killer good! Quitting MY sucky academic position has allowed me to get up to speed with the whole blog epidemic, and even start my own. So what's this about being sexy? Sexy is all between the ears (yes?) reinforced with the right shoes. Too bad there's not more from Julia on how she was able to do with the shoes! Ciao, Janice

Woops, that was supposed to read "how she was able to do WITHOUT the shoes."

New York really is so brilliant at ripping away sex appeal. Brooklyn gives it back, though.
